LG Wallpaper OLED TV To Spur The Next TV Upgrade Cycle?

The center of the home has been the attention of many companies, ranging from Apple to Google and Microsoft, that emphasize differing strategies (streaming of digital content and gaming among the most prevalent). One commonality in all of this is the TV, which has gone through several upgrade cycles as new technologies, such as LCD and LEDs, have collapsed the width and taken substantial weight out of the device. The latest iteration is organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) that look to add a layer of portability to even the largest TV. We can already hear the battle of who gets the 55″ screen next in their room.

LG is all set to release its wallpaper OLED TV next year, according to leaked information from the Wi-Fi Alliance website. The wallpaper OLED TV of LG Display was first unveiled in May 2015 at a press event in the South Korea. The display bears that name because it is less than a millimeter thick, with the 55-inch screen coming in at a weight of only 1.9 kilograms (4.2 pounds). There was no release date previously associated with the breakthrough technology. However, according to a report by Flat Panels HD, LG’s wallpaper OLED TV could be making its debut next year.
